FAQ
- What does Cena (say-nah) mean and what is it?
Cena means supper or dinner in Spanish and Italian. Cena provides the opportunity for customers to prepare 3-12 entrées from a monthly menu of fabulous choices. Customers register to attend a session at the nearest Cena location. All of the food preparation and shopping is done for you. Customers rotate through their chosen entrée stations assembling their selected meals from pre-prepped, fresh ingredients. Once each of the meals is assembled, cooking directions are attached, Cena staff cleans up after you and the customer moves to his or her next entrée! You can also choose daily Gourmet To Go options at all Cena locations. - How many people does each entrée serve?
Each serving is generous and easily serves 4-6 people. Leftovers make wonderful lunches. Check the Cena location near you for 1/2 size (serves 2-3) availability. - What is the cost of Cena?
Preparing Cena meals is economical and can save hundreds of dollars on your monthly grocery and "going-out" bills. On the average our entrées cost under $4.00 per serving. A childs' meal at fast food restaurants typically costs the same, but has 20 grams of fat, 35 grams of sugar. By using Cena, you avoid last-minute grocery trips, unhealthy food and fast food "emergency runs". - What are my options if I am a senior citizen or if I am cooking for 2?
Many Cena locations offer 1/2 sizes (serving 2-3). Check your location for availability. We also provide smaller containers so that you are able to separate the entrées, free of charge, into serving sizes of 2. We also allow you to make between 3-12 entrées at any session or private party. This option is great for elderly parents, for children living on their own, for ill people who are unable to prepare healthy meals or for college kids in need of a home-cooked dinner. - How do I place a "To Go" order?
Click on a date from your local calendar and place your order or call your local Cena. It will be ready for you when you arrive. - What if I have special dietary needs?
Cena's expert staff is well prepared to adjust recipes to fit the needs of most dietary regulations. It is recommended that you call three days in advance so that we are able to accommodate you. - Why don't Cena's nutritionals include Weight Watcher™ Points?
Cena uses fresh, quality ingredients that are naturally low-fat and low-calorie. Cena's nutritionals are displayed so that you can easily calculate Weight Watcher Points. The point system and all of its intellectual property belongs to Weight Watchers and its components are federally trademarked. - How much freezer space do I need?
Since many of the meals are in Ziplocs™, you don't need as much as you might think. Generally (and depending on how many pans you use) you need two shelves in your freezer. - What do I bring?
One to two coolers to transport your food home. If you would like to bring your own bakeware and assemble the meals in those, you are welcome to do so. - Is this an expensive alternative or is it cheaper to go out for dinner?
Not even close, and it is significantly lower fat, lower calorie, and much more healthy! Visit our locations page to learn more about the pricing in your area. The bonus is that Cena is like going out…but at home! - What happens if I have to cancel?
Because all food we order is non-returnable, and since Cena must order all food in advance of each scheduled session, we cannot issue refunds for any cancellation that occurs three days or less before a scheduled session. However, if you must cancel less than three days prior to your session, for a small fee we would be happy to assemble your food for later pickup. Any food not claimed within 48 hours will be delivered to a local shelter. - What is the difference between "Gourmet To Go" and "To Go"?
Every day, entrées from our current menu are prepared and available for pick-up without pre-ordering. Check your location online, call your store or stop in at the store to see our "Gourmet To Go" daily offerings.
"To Go" orders are made in advance online or by calling your local Cena. - Does Cena deliver?
Some of our Cena locations have a delivery service for an additional fee. Contact the Cena nearest you to find out if they deliver. - What are your health standards?
The highest. Cena's staff has been trained in safe and hygienic food preparation. We require gloves for all customers and hairnets are an option. Each utensil is used only once, then replaced by a clean one. We continually disinfect all kitchen islands during our sessions.
- Am I able to substitute non-alcoholic ingredients for those recipes using wine?
Cena offers wine substitutions on recipes using wine for those clients who wish to avoid alcohol in their entrées. - Can I order an odd number of entrées (not 6 or 12)?
Absolutely! Our registration process allows for this, but remember--it is more economical to order 6 or 12 entrées.
